Kirby Ward
Kirby Ward is a world renowned musical theatre performer and song-and-dance man. He was the original Bobby Child in the London West End premier of Crazy For You where he received an Olivier Award nomination. He toured the world playing the role, receiving a Helen Hayes Award nomination when he brought his performance to the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. You can hear him on the London cast recording. He's entertained First Ladies and Presidents, the Queen of England, heads of state, and appeared as Bob Hope at the Library of Congress' 100th Birthday celebration of the comic's life. He's been featured in numerous Broadway shows including the revival of Show Boat directed by Hal Prince and Never Gonna Dance at the Broadhurst. As a variety performer, Kirby has shared the stage with luminaries such as Jay Leno, Bill Cosby, the Nicholas Brothers, Sid Caesar and Mickey Rooney. As director and choreographer, he has created material for Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor, worked with Bette Midler and James Caan on their film For The Boys, and has directed and choreographed both off-Broadway and regionally all over the United States. He was named Best Director of 2002 and 2005 in Boston for his critically acclaimed productions of Singin' in the Rain and Crazy For You and recently received the San Diego Critics Circle Craig Noel Awards for Best Director of a Musical for 2005 and Best Choreography for 2007. Kirby has been a guest star with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Philly Pops, as well as symphonies all over the globe from Berlin to Hong Kong. Kirby is a writer as well, penning a dozen or more television episodes for Hanna Barbera and the Disney Channel. As filmmaker, his original short, Down in the Mouth, a movie he wrote, directed and edited, won Best Short Film at the Kent Film Festival in Connecticut. He was also the co-creator of the original musical, The Gypsy King, which was presented by the Village Theatre in Issaquah, WA in 2010. Mr. Ward lives with his wife, kids and cat in the woods of Connecticut.
